31st of December 2019.
Who was going to imagine 5 years ago I was going to be here, again?
The answer is nobody. But as I always say: » You never know»
Surprises are one of the life things I like the most, and my life sometimes is full of them, because I am not «black or white», I don’t have a «plan» in mind, I don’t follow a «one way» path without no other exits, but with a lot of options.
And here I am, spending New Years Eve in Cork, in the first country where I lived for longer, where I worked, and where I started to learn and discover things that I wanted for me in the future.
It is my second time this year travelling here and even if I can say «everything is the same» and it seems like the time didn’t pass, I can also say, I have discovered new places, new spots, new people, I have different feelings, and I lived different vibes.

First of all I would like to mention new places I hadn’t been before, such as: St Anne’s church. I was surprised about its Christmas decoration, those Christmas lights and tree mixed with the Nativity in a sacre place. I felt a special peace there, when I listened to the Christmas Carol song it was being played.
I also enjoyed the narrow streets around the Church with cute and small houses.

I visited the old jail, «Cork City Goal» and I was surprised in a good way, I didn’t expect it was going to look like a castle, despite of my low expectations, I can say it was worth it.

When you get inside the prison, the pictures of the jails that appears in movies like «The Rock» come to your mind, they have figures of real prisoners and the guide tour tells to the visitors the misery stories about them, how they were send to jail for «small things» , how they were punished and treated.

Unexpectedly our guide tour spoke Spanish (is quite uncommon to find an Irish who can speak another language) so she tried to introduce some words into her explanations and she was super nice and charming with us.
In our way to the jail I also discovered a new route, new views of the city. I thought about how when I lived here I didn’t do that much…just almost every weekend the same.
Also I had a tour guide in the Art Gallery, which I really liked it because other wise when I go to a museum I can’t know about the artist life or the story behind the pictures.

At night, one of the best part was to discover the new latin parties and its people. I could dance in new places and to «relive» the old house latin parties I used to go. Dancing until almost the sunrise, until you can’t move any more. To enjoy with some of my old parties mates.
And of course I loved the fact of meeting people from around the world, wherever I go. I met some special persons, those who make you feel an unique connection, when in a few hours you can notice how similar you are even if you barely know each other. Sometimes it feels like magic. Like if we were joined by threads and at some point in our life we find a partner in the same path, sharing the same thread.
Cork, you always will be special.

Finally, I cannot forget about my travel buddies. Those who know me better than nobody, those who always want to look for a toilet, those super prevented, those easy going, those who can understand each other without talking, those who have so much patience with my «sleeping»…worrying about the nuts, and asking if they were going to need an umbrella. Umbrella? here? in Ireland?
